Mount Royal University’s Journey to Transformation and Growth

Mount Royal University currently spends a great deal of money maintaining its Information Technology Services (ITS) systems, but is unable to make significant inroads in contributing to institutional growth and transformation.  Approximately 95% of ITS labour focuses on running the organization and this must change in order to support MRU’s goals and objectives of increased student enrollment and transformation of how it supports student success.

Is your organization caught in a similar trap?  Are you just keeping lights on and not contributing to the innovation and growth your organization desperately needs to survive into 2020 and beyond?  Just like raising kids, losing weight or running your first 10km race, creating an IT department that supports Run, Grow and Transformation takes sacrifice and hard work.  For Mount Royal University the outcomes we seek are improved educational and student success; easy to say yet difficult to do.

Please join us as Michael explains how MRU is embarking on this journey, fueled by the reality that our world is changing dramatically.  We gather around a shrinking water hole of resources yet live in times of increased expectations and demands.  Michael doesn’t offer a silver bullet to solving these challenges but instead will lead the group on a journey of connecting the dots needed to enhance customer services and support innovation at Mount Royal University, an institution that is over 105 years old yet faces challenges that are current to everyone in Alberta.
